Bespoke Wooden Doors FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What styles of wooden staircases can you create?

We handcraft all staircase styles including traditional straight flights, space-saving winders, elegant curved designs, contemporary open-tread stairs and grand feature staircases. Andy will work with you to design the perfect staircase for your property’s architecture, available space and personal style preferences throughout Devon.

How long does it take to build a bespoke staircase?

The timeframe depends on your staircase’s complexity and design. Typically, from initial survey and design through to manufacture and installation takes 6-10 weeks. We’ll provide a detailed timeline during consultation and keep you informed throughout the process at our Avonwick workshop, near South Brent.

What types of wood do you use for staircases?

We work with premium hardwoods sourced from sustainable suppliers, including oak, ash, pine and other quality timbers. During consultation, we’ll recommend the best wood for your requirements, considering durability, grain pattern, finish options and how well each timber complements your property’s existing interior.

Do you install wooden staircases across Devon?

Yes, we design, manufacture and install handcrafted wooden staircases throughout Devon but also across the South West and further afield too. This includes Plymouth, Kingsbridge, Modbury, South Brent, Hope Cove, Salcombe, Ivybridge, Totnes and all surrounding areas. We’ve even installed staircases on the Isles of Scilly too. Andy ensures professional installation with minimal disruption to your home.

Can you match a new staircase to existing woodwork?

Absolutely. We specialise in creating staircases that seamlessly match your property’s existing joinery, wood finishes and architectural features. Whether replicating period details or complementing contemporary interiors, as a skilled craftsman, Andy will ensure your new staircase integrates beautifully with your home’s character.
